Every March, Hong Kong comes alive with a vibrant array of art and cultural events, transforming the city into a dynamic hub brimming with creativity and artistic energy. At THE SOUTHSIDE, a Cultural Landmark of Island South Living, at the heart of the burgeoning art community in Wong Chuk Hang, the first SOUTHSIDE ARTival is making a phenomenal debut, just in time for the most prominent occasion in the city’s art-cultural calendar. The extravaganza will bring together artists and labels in town, alongside students in the Southern District. Together, they will unleash their creativity on giant egg art using various materials and media. Their artworks will be shown all over the place at THE SOUTHSIDE, including the mall’s atrium, offering an opportunity for the public to admire homegrown art in person. As the headliner in the district’s annual event calendar, the SOUTHSIDE ARTival will also organise the “Explore Island South” Art Walk, showcasing the myriad facets of the Southern District in a tour led by professional guides through the neighbourhood’s art-cultural power spots, including the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

 Multiple Materials Upcycled to Create Egg-Shaped Installations

From 27 Mar until 10 May, the SOUTHSIDE ARTival will display over 30 egg sculptures at THE SOUTHSIDE’s atrium and beyond, created exclusively for the event by local creative forces, labels and students in the Southern District. Among the participating creators are local artists, fashion designers, multimedia creatives, illustrators, book art studio, architects, and students, who channel their artistic talents using different materials and in different styles. Fashion, environment, neon crafts, sculpture and a plenitude of creative media come together to turn THE SOUTHSIDE into an art gallery in March.

Art & Culture Takes Centre Stage at “Explore Island South” Art Walk

In its latest effort to promote in-depth exploration of the Southern District, THE SOUTHSIDE is once again organising the “Explore Island South” Guided Community Tour. The art walk will take place on 4 April, with professional guides leading participants through the streets of the Southern District to visit historic temples, the waterfront and art studios, among other sites, along the way. Participants will have the opportunity to discover the neighbourhood’s history, scenery and art for themselves, as the tour combines shopping experiences and local lifestyle in a cultural itinerary.
